A character from my book series, a heavy field transport robot.

The idea of these guys was to have heavy transporters based on an elephant. Part of the gag was to have them so covered in luggage, you can barely see the robot underneath.

Without cargo, they are pretty scrawny. This gives you an idea of the amount of stuff needed to cover them.

They are symmetrical front to back, left to right. This meant that only one of each main section was needed with multiple casting to make up the body. Balsa was used to make the main part, then covered in styrene and putty.

With all the textures on them, they were hard to see against rough terrain backgrounds. I guess that in reality, that is what you want. It was a problem trying to get images to see their details.

Once loaded, they became tricky to pose. They are small and don’t take the weight on their thin legs. They are hung on wires. I would usually pull the leg pins out and just use blu-tack to save time and get the shot.
